A Braselton Police Department officer was fired in August 2026 after an internal audit found he had improperly used the department’s Flock Safety license-plate reader system during 2024 and 2025. The department has not released the officer’s name, and the case has been referred to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation; no criminal charges have been reported at this time.

In response, Braselton PD cut Flock system access from 23 personnel down to 14, and now requires officers to log a case number and written justification for every search, with weekly audit reviews.

Braselton, Georgia sits primarily in Jackson County, though the town’s boundaries also touch Barrow, Gwinnett, and Hall counties.

Date of incident: August 20, 2026
